Getting into the Right Lane for 2050

, 2009,
together with:
i.c.w. Anton van Hoorn

content The European Union is placed in a visionary global perspective for 2050 with far-reaching implications for EU policy and decision-making processes today. The vision for the EU in 2050 is based on three interlinked themes. These themes are producing food to feed a global population of nine billion while minimising biodiversity loss; mitigating climate change while enhancing energy security; and developing a low-carbon transport system in the EU. Critical junctions en route to 2050 are identified that require EU leadership in global collaboration. Looking back from 2050, some pathways are clearly dead ends while others lead only part of the way.
