[de Vreemdeling] content The twenty-fifth anniversary of the Centre for Visual Art is celebrated with a art route through the heart of the city with ‘The Foreigner” as title. The reason for this topic: it has been 300 years since the almost forgotten philosopher Pierre Bayle (1647-1706) died in Rotterdam. Born in France, Bayle fled to Rotterdam, later to be known as the ‘the philosopher of Rotterdam’. His ideas concerning tolerance are still actual 300 years later.
